Light in the Darkness
“In winter, when the green earth is sleeping beneath a blanket of snow, this is the time for storytelling.” A magical evening embracing the wildness of winter with spine-tingling music and spell-binding wintery tales.
This show is for anyone who finds winter hard, and who finds the commercial juggernaut surrounding Christmas a bit overwhelming. It’s designed as an antidote to all that. re-connecting us to the rhythms of the natural world through stories and song, as we cycle through the darkness and back to the light once more.
The Long Way Home
“Cumberland is in my blood, no matter where I roam. I feel the pull of the lakes and fells but I’m taking the long way home.”
"Where do you come from? Yes, but where do you really come from?"
Join Jessie McMeekin and Dave Camlin for an evening of stories and songs exploring the enduring power of place. They weave a magical odyssey uniting Cumbria’s neolithic Irish Sea heritage with the landscapes, Celtic myths and legends of North Wales, Ireland and the Isle of Man.
Feedback
Promoter Fedback
‘A comforting show that speaks to our fundamental human need to gather together and hunker down, to warm the long dark evenings by sharing songs and stories. The folk tales and beautiful harmonies of the show brighten mid-winter. Across time we gather round the hearth. This intimate show is perfect for smaller venues, would go down a treat in a village hall with mulled wine and mince pies!’ (Sian Allen, former Manager of Arts Alive, Shropshire Rural Touring Scheme)
